I had a dream that my family and I were invited to a wedding. I was supposed to read the readings but I got replaced by someone else. Didn't get angry but I still told my dad I was skipped. After everyone read, a lady explained that she wanted the audience to throw chocolate coins at the couple but I don't remember actually doing that. After that we went to eat at the reception, where there were strange food. The food I saw where I was were a pie slice of cheese, green grapes and something else. But the portions were so big I couldn't fit more than that, there was 2 kids that were there first and I asked if they could move aside so I could get a portion and they said that they'll just give it to me. So I accepted because I didn't are that much and thanked them then I went on my way to sit somewhere. There were long white tables where the guests were sitting and at 1 table there was a cramped spot and then a couple feet away I saw there was another spot but when I got close I saw my brother cousins and random kids were at that table by the time I got there someone already took the spot. I said I would find a chair but someone said that we're not allowed to move the chairs. I think I got a chair and ate anyway because the next thing I remember was talking to my uncles. Since we are so close in age they call us their cousins when we should call them uncle and I guess they heard my say the other was a cousin or just their name cause my oldest cousin/uncle said and looked into my eyes with seriousness that I should've added tio to what I said. Which kinda shocked me because he normally doesn't care and thinks of us as cousins. After that we were talking about our family and how old they are. Then he said that he doesn't remember his brother's birthday, I told him I remember both my siblings birthdays and its crazy he didn't. So he asked if I could ask him so I took a while to find him and when I found him he didn't even get a answer to me lol we talked for a bit but I forgot what about then his mom/ my aunt said that she wants to dance and she wants to do it with me, as a joke I say no while laughing and then she went around and found another partner when u was right beside her. I wasn't annoyed or anything because I got another partner which was my sister. But when we were dancing I realized that a really short guy wanted to dance with my sister so I went to the side and watched them dance. But I was shocked to see that they got smaller in height and got rounder faces. Even what they wore changed to black and red outfits and my sisters dress became more revealing. For the rest of the dream I watched them dance and was wondering if that was still my sister.
Dreams can be rich with symbolism and personal significance, and your dream appears to touch on several themes, including belonging, familial relationships, identity, and perhaps feelings of being overlooked or replaced. Here are some elements of your dream and their possible interpretations:
Wedding Setting: Weddings often symbolize transitions, new beginnings, or reunions in the context of relationships. The fact that it was a family event suggests a focus on familial bonds and possibly a desire for connection.
Being Replaced: Your initial role in reading the readings but being replaced could point to feelings of inadequacy or being overlooked in your waking life. It might suggest anxiety about your contributions being unrecognized or that you fear not being acknowledged in your familial dynamics.
Chocolate Coins: The idea of throwing chocolate coins at the couple implies celebration and a desire to shower them with good wishes or blessings. Chocolate also represents indulgence and joy, suggesting a transfer of happiness or blessings to others.
Strange Food and Big Portions: The unusual food and large portions could signify feelings of abundance or overwhelm. It may reflect how you perceive your current situation—perhaps you feel there are too many choices or challenges presented to you that you can’t fully digest or deal with at once.
Interactions with Kids: The pleasant interaction with the children over the food may indicate feelings of camaraderie or the innocence of childhood. It might represent a simpler relationship with family that you appreciate.
Sitting Arrangement: The struggle to find a seat and being told not to move chairs could symbolize feelings of confinement or a need to assert your place within family dynamics. It may reflect anxieties about not fitting in or finding your unique position within your family.
Cousins/Uncles Discussion: The conversation about familial relationships and birthdays suggests a reflection on familial roles and memories. The seriousness of your cousin/uncle about how you refer to him might indicate an underlying need for respect or acknowledgment of roles within your family.
Dancing: Dance often symbolizes joy, freedom, and self-expression. Your interaction with your aunt and later observing your sister's dance might represent your tension between wanting to engage fully with family while also feeling a sense of separateness or change.
Transformation: The transformation of the dancer and your sister represents feelings of change, perhaps reflecting your own views on identity, maturity, or how you see others in your life changing in ways that may feel unfamiliar or unsettling.
Overall, your dream seems to be exploring themes of family dynamics, identity, acceptance, and the complexities of relationships within a familial context. It might be helpful to reflect on recent interactions with family members or current feelings you’ve had about your place or identity within your family.
